Vampire hunting with Anita Blake
I have just finished re-reading all 21 books of the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton. The newest book (Kiss the Dead) lacked a certain punch for me and I don't really know how to describe what was missing.

It had crime fighting (working with RPIT and Zebroski and rational!Dolph). It had vampire politics (with Asher's behaviour finally being addressed, and the mysterious Benjamin and his human servant who's name I cannot recall at the moment). It had pointless sex (which physically healed Anita, kills Nicky, and emotionally sooths Devil from the break up with Asher, and does nothing for the plot).

What it didn't have was zombie raising, multiple plot lines (like every book before NIC), or Edward. It didn't even have much of Jean-Claude in the book either (for what few scenes he is apart of he'd kind of a prop and sock puppet for Anita's thoughts).

I will probably add more thoughts on the book (and the series in general) later, when I'm not thumb-typing my post onto my cell phone.

Anyone else have an opinion they want to share/debate with me about these books?
